Affixes vs Artifacts
Limitless Survivor uses two permanent-feeling systems that behave differently:
Artifacts — Permanent, stackable account boosts earned over many runs. They define incremental power and interact with Prestige drop bonuses. See How to Farm Artifacts.
Gear affixes — Random modifiers on run drops such as on-kill explosions, chain lightning on critical hits, and bonuses to attack count or attack area. They shape individual dungeon attempts but do not replace crystal stats or Artifacts.
Affix priority answers: “Given two pieces of gear this run, which keeps my Time Limit safer and my Floor 7+ farm faster?”
Core affix categories
On-kill explosions
Strengths: Wave clear, synergy with dense Normal floors, strong during Prestige re-climbs when enemies die quickly in chains.
Weaknesses: Less value on single-target boss phases unless adds spawn.
Pair with: Area skills and attack-count lines that trigger many kills per screen—Best Builds farm template.
Chain lightning on crit
Strengths: Scales with crit-capable skills; excellent add control during boss fights; satisfying synergy with high attack-count setups.
Weaknesses: Needs consistent crit uptime; weak if your five skills rarely crit without supporting stats.

Attack count
Strengths: Multiplies procs—explosions, on-hit effects, and crit chains; strong for Time Limit clears when spawn counts are high.
Weaknesses: Can feel redundant without proc affixes or skills that use many hit instances.
Pair with: On-kill explosions or chain lightning on crit for compound clears.
Attack area
Strengths: Forgiving positioning—ideal for Auto-Play Guide and pickup-heavy routes; raises effective DPS without perfect aim.
Weaknesses: Bosses with tight hit zones may prefer count or crit lines depending on encounter.
Pair with: Low-maintenance area skills on Floor 7+ Yellow Crystal farms—Yellow Crystals.
General priority order
Use this when you cannot keep everything:
- Affix that fixes your current failure mode — if Time Limit kills you, area and explosions beat boss-only crit lines
- Attack area for general Normal farming and auto-play
- On-kill explosions on dense floors
- Attack count if you already proc explosions or lightning
- Chain lightning on crit when crit uptime is proven
- Niche or duplicate lines — sell or replace unless stacking a defined build

Phase-based affix goals
Pre–Floor 7
Take any area or count line that clears faster. Do not delay upgrades chasing perfect rolls—Stat Upgrade Priority matters more.
Floor 7+ farming
Optimize for clear speed and pickup efficiency. Area plus explosions shorten runs for Yellow Crystals and Artifacts.
Post-Prestige re-climb
Same as Floor 7+ with emphasis on area—you want low floors cleared quickly while pickup range catches up.
Boss progression
Temporarily favor crit chain or single-target burst affixes if add waves are the problem; favor survival stats if affixes cannot fix one-shots.
Affixes and Prestige economy

Patch 1.0.02 raised base Artifact rates ~67% and doubled Yellow Crystal drops, so affix optimization yields more total drops per hour when runs finish faster.
When to ignore affixes entirely
Skip affix min-maxing when:
- You are one crystal upgrade from a Time Limit or HP breakpoint
- You lack Achievement-gated skills that activate proc builds
- You are on a temporary re-climb floor after Prestige
- Auto-play is not yet proven on your farm floor
Return to affix priority once runs stabilize.
Achievements and gear unlocks
